Almost every morning before I open my eyes, I lay with deep thoughts. Deep thoughts about how thankful I am. Thankful to lay next to a wonderful husband and father. Thankful for the amazing bed I lay on every night along with those oh-so-fabulous sheets . Thankful for my two little beautiful girls who still lay soundly asleep. And thankful for my toothbrush. I mean really, who isn’t thankful for their toothbrush in the morning?!
This weekend I quickly learned that my grandmother has stage four cancer. It took about 24 hours for it to really sink in. For some reason, I kept telling myself it wasn’t true. I’m dreaming. But now I’m in that stage of sadness and wishing I could be with her this very minute. So instead I’m pondering on all those memories I shared with her as a kid. And thinking back, she brings a huge smile to my face. She brought laughter into my life. And that right there, is what I’m thankful for.
Today I’m thankful for memories. And I’m thankful for those memories than bring my laughter and smiles. Today, I’m thankful for my beautiful grandmother. Our lives are so unpredictable and anything can change in an instant.
